Updated: Lady Pirates, Lady Tigers post wins - Thursday basketball finals

Area basketball teams were in action Thursday night.

The Riverside varsity girls outscored visiting Northeastern 76-68.

Marissa Davis had 20 points, 8 rebounds, and 8 assists.

Shelby Giles scored 18. She canned four 3-pointers.

Lauryn Sanford tallied 16 points and 5 assists.

The Pirates move to 9-11.

The West Liberty-Salem varsity girls won at West Jefferson 36-27.

Taylor Lauck had 12 points and 3 assists.

Kelsey Day dropped in 11 points.

WL-S finished the regular season 17-5 overall and 15-1 in the OHC. They won the OHC North Division title.

The JV Tigers defeated the Roughriders 27-22.

Mya King had 8 points.

The Anna varsity girls beat Fairlawn 46-21.

Macey Huelskamp recorded 12 points and 7 rebounds.

The West Liberty-Salem freshman boys eliminated Greenon 37-26 in the opening round of the OHC tournament.

Wyatt Cave and Tanner LeVan each had 11 points.

Jace Wade tossed in 9 points.

Jr. High finals:

The West Liberty-Salem 8th grade girls defeated Southeastern 34-9 to advance to the OHC championship game on Saturday.

Emily Hollar tallied 16 points and 7 steals. Hallie Smith added 6 points.

The West Liberty-Salem 7th grade girls lost to West Jefferson 22-8.

The 7th grade Lady Tigers finished the season at 10-8.

The West Liberty-Salem 8th grade boys outscored Northeastern 48-37.

Landon Stewart had 12 points and Owen Johnson added 11 points.

The West Liberty-Salem 7th grade boys fell to Northeastern 35-23.

Dylan Glunt recorded 7 points.

The 7th grade Tigers finished the regular season at 3-13 and will begin the OHC tournament at Triad Monday.

The Benjamin Logan 7th grade girls advanced to the CBC championship game by coming from behind in the 4th quarter to defeat Northwestern 31-23.

Alanna Gibson and Kenzee Congrove each scored 8 points.

Kiley Daniels scored 7 points, Rhea Harner and Jillian Plikerd each had 3 points, and Elliot Bailey added 2 points.

The Raiders (15-3) will take on #1 seed and undefeated Tecumseh for the championship. The game is Saturday at 10 a.m. at Indian Lake.

The Benjamin Logan 8th grade girls lost at Tecumseh 38-25 in the semifinals.

Lynzee Cronkleton scored 7 points, Maddy Plikerd had 5, Haleigh Brentlinger and Kerry Copenhaver each scored 4, Kayla Horney had 3, and Kaycee Cook scored 2 points.

The Raiders finished the season 13-5.

On Tuesday night, the Calvary Christian junior high boys beat Urbana Christian 46-12.

Evan Patton scored 16 points, Tristen Jacobs tallied 11 points, and Jake Palmer contributed 7 points.

The junior high Spartans improve to 18-1 on the season.
