Youth ball tournament Saturday highlights

Several youth ball teams are busy with tournament action this weekend.

In 8U softball from Saturday, West Liberty I, Wren's Towing, defeated Rushsylvania 14-5 in the opening round of the tournament in Zanesfield. Tru Maxam led WL1 going 2-2 with a double, triple and 4 RBI. Kaylee Powell was 2-2 with a triple and 3 RBI. Addison Carter and Emma Liggett each went 2-2 with a double.

In the second round, Wren's Towing fell 13-6 to Lakeview 2. Maxam and Savannah McClintick were both 2-2. Powell added a 3-run homerun and Carter had a triple and RBI.

West Liberty I plays Bellefontaine 2 tomorrow at noon in Zanesfield.

West Liberty III, Brecount Law Office, defeated Rushsylvania I 15-2 in the opening round of the Coach Pitch Tournament in Rushsylvania on Saturday.

Garrett Hull led Brecount going 3-3 with a triple, homerun and 4 RBI. Kash LeVan was 3-3 with a homerun and 2 RBI, Julius Butler was 3-3 with 3 RBI and Aiden Hull added 2 hits and 3 RBI.

WL3 plays again Sunday at 3:30 against West Mansfield in Rushsylvania.

In T-Ball, WLTB #2 beat West Mansfield #1 in the Saturday morning tournament game with a final score of 26-12.

David Roberts had 2 home runs and a triple. Eli Jackson was a single shy of the cycle and Braxton Catron was a home run shy of the cycle.

The team is back in action at 3 on Sunday.
