Meryl Eleanor Oakes

Meryl Eleanor Oakes, 69, of Bellefontaine, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2017 in St. Rita’s Hospice, Lima, Ohio.

She was born in Lackawanna, New York on July 10, 1947, the daughter of the late Richard T. and Eleanor (Green) Rosander.

On December 31, 1980, she married Gary Oakes in Wallace, Idaho and he survives in Bellefontaine along with three sons; Joseph (Tara) Oakes of Dunkirk, Richard (Amy) Oakes of Urbana, and Gary (Hollie) Oakes of Spencerville, 13 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, two sisters; Chris Caskey of Erie, PA and Marietta Huffman of Bellefontaine, and a brother, Craig Konwinski of Manassas, VA and many nieces and nephews.

Meryl graduated from high school and studied at the College of William & Mary for a number of years. She worked as a homemaker, but also worked at Wal-Mart and at Peter K. DeSomma Law Office as an administrative assistant.

She enjoyed playing BINGO and cheering for her favorite NFL team, the Seattle Seahawks. She loved to watch her sons play ball and enjoyed spending time with her family.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to any local law enforcement agency.

There are no planned public funeral services. The Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Bellefontaine assisted the family with arrangements. Condolences may be made to the family at www.edsfh.com.
