Four city teens arrested following high-speed pursuit, stolen vehicle recovered

Four city teens were arrested on multiple charges after a high-speed pursuit Wednesday morning around 12:45.

The Bellefontaine Police Department reports that Brayden Todd, 15, was driving a 2008 Jeep Liberty westbound on Lake Avenue.

The vehicle did not have working taillights.

Todd turned north on Harding Street.

Officers initiated a traffic stop.

Todd pulled into the Bellefontaine High School parking lot.

As the officer approached the vehicle on foot, Todd drove away.

He went southbound on Harding Street and failed to stop at the stop sign on Lake Avenue.

Todd was going over 50 miles per hour on Lake Avenue towards Main Street.

He then ran the stop sign at Lake and Detroit.

Todd reached speeds around 100 mph on County Road 11.

He failed to stop at the intersection of 11 and County Road 32.

Todd went north on 32.

Police terminated the pursuit.

Todd slowed to around 50 mph.

He did not stop for the traffic light at 32 and State Route 47.

Todd turned into AGC Automotive, then fled on foot.

He was caught in the field west of AGC.

Three passengers exited the vehicle.

Aden Downing, 14, Caleb Williams, 15, and Jeremy Baughman, 15, were ordered to the ground.

All three complied.

Police searched each passenger.

Nothing illegal was found on them.

Baughman told police that marijuana was in the vehicle.

He admitted that he had smoked marijuana.

Officers smelled marijuana in the vehicle.

Authorities searched the Jeep and found a marijuana pipe and a small amount of marijuana in the center console.

Todd did not have a driver's license.

The vehicle belonged to his former stepfather.

Williams reported the boys met at school on Tuesday and planned their late-night gathering.

Williams brought the marijuana.

Todd and Baughman paid for the marijuana they smoked.

Downing denied smoking marijuana. He said he didn't know there was any in the vehicle.

Todd was charged with failure to comply, theft of a motor vehicle, no operator's license, possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana paraphernalia, and curfew violation.

He was lodged in the Logan County JDC.

The three other boys were released to family members.

Williams was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, trafficking in marijuana, possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana paraphernalia, and curfew violation.

Baughman was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana paraphernalia, and curfew violation.

Downing was charged with theft of a motor vehicle and curfew violation.
