Indian Lake High School named its representatives for Buckeye Boys' State.
Justin Collins, son of Jessica Partington and Dustin Collins of Bellefontaine, Colin Powers, son of Richard and Holly Powers of Belle Center, Bryce Ramsey, son of Brian and Jennifer Ramsey of Huntsville, Caleb Taylor, son of Travis and Mindy Taylor of Huntsville, and Jacob Zarnosky, son of Matt and Lori Zarnosky of Bellefontaine have been selected to represent Indian Lake High School for nine day-event on the Miami University campus.
In addition, Logan Jakeway, son of Shawn and Kristy Jakeway of Lakeview, will also be attending Buckeye Boys State and is being sponsored by Belle Center American Legion Post 266.
Buckeye Boys’ State is sponsored by the Huntsville American Legion Post 381. It is locally sponsored by the following businesses: Bud’s Marine, Desperados Bar & Grill, Ohio Ready Mix, Spend-A-Day Marina, Woody’s Diner, Robert A. Coffman, Jr., Stephanie Dysert, Judy Grubbs, John Tuttle, Dustin Wickersham, and Gabe Wickline.
Participants must meet several qualifications. Candidates must be juniors in high school, interested in government and current events, and have an above average scholastic standing. The young men must also demonstrate high moral character, possess strong leadership skills, and have a desire for learning.
The purpose of Buckeye Boys State is to provide a hands-on experience in the operation of the democratic form of government, the organization of political parties, and the relationship of one to the other in shaping Ohio government.
