Route 33 traffic stop leads to alcohol, drug charges

A driver and passenger were charged following a traffic stop on Route 33 near Sunnyside Avenue in Russells Point Monday night around 7:10.

The Washington Township Police Department stopped Anthony Stirn, 34, of Spencerville, for an equipment violation.

Authorities noticed an odor of marijuana.

Officers found a bag of marijuana in Stirn's pants pocket.

Passenger Jared Kigdon, 32, of Spencerville, admitted to having an open container of alcohol.

He was issued a summons for open container.

Stirn was issued a summons for possession of marijuana.
